H&R Business Mall

February 27th, 2008

I know a couple people that are in to the whole hunting and fishing scene as well as one person who lives and breathes it. If this is your thing, then you can find a lot of related products including a Deer Feeder over at H&R Business Mall. The H&R stands for Hunting and Recreation by the way. So check them out if you’re looking for an alternative to other “outdoors” retailers. You may just find what you’ve been looking for.

My Dad is Gayer Than Your Dad…

February 25th, 2008

dad.jpgI just want to ask a quick question. Does anyone actually like the new show, My Dad is Better Than Your Dad? I haven’t really watched it totally, but from what I have seen it seems pretty lame. As far as I’m concerned, it is a show that was quickly thrown together so that NBC could take advantage of the recently erected Gladiator Arena. I can understand the desire to leverage this new asset, but at least a little thought could have been put into creating a show that people would actually want to watch. Maybe I’m completely off base with this, but I haven’t heard from anyone that likes the show, if they’ve even watched it or heard of it. I’d love to hear from someone who disagrees though…

Gas Heaters Online

February 21st, 2008

This winter season has kind of been all over the place as far as the weather and temperatures have been. It’s certainly been a chore to heat the home or office place when it’s gotten extremely cold. Well, instead of just relying on the standard home heating solution of a central air furnace, there are other ways to heat a space. One of those ways is with some sort of gas heater. With these gas heaters you don’t have to worry about heating every area of your home and having to pay to do it. You can leave the temperature in unused areas of your home at some lower level while keeping the higher traffic areas warmer. For family areas you might consider gas fireplaces as another option. If you consistently find yourself paying to heat a large home or office space, consider one of these other options. You may find that it works out really well for your situation.

Separated at Birth…

February 17th, 2008

wolf.jpgstiller.jpg

I don’t really think that I’m breaking any news with this post. If you haven’t wondered about this pair already yourself, it should at least not come as any surprise to you. Shortly after making the movie Dodge Ball, Ben Stiller received an email from one Don Yateswhich included his picture. Aside from introducing himself to his long lost brother, his real intent was to inquire about some career help. I don’t think that it’s mere coincidence that Hollywood Yates’ filmography begins just a year after the release of the movie Dodge Ball.

I’m not sure where Yates’ career is going to take him now seeing as how tonight is the season finale of American Gladiators. In a recent interview, Stiller said that he feels he has “done [his] family duty and it’s time that [Don] earn things on his own from now on.” Hopefully in whatever he does next he won’t howl like a wolf. I’m getting pretty tired of it, I’ll be honest.

The Never-Ending Project

February 16th, 2008

Today I just wanted to put up two new towel racks and a toilet paper dispenser. You wouldn’t think that this should be a big deal, or that difficult for that matter. Unfortunately, it turned into about an entire day project.

After taking the old fixtures off the wall, I needed to fill in the screw holes and whatnot. So I picked up some goop and some plain white paint. Well, the paint didn’t really match the wall since the wall is just old and faded, so I ended up having to paint the entire wall. I hadn’t really planned on this portion of the project.

Then, of course, the paint has to dry so I couldn’t just put up the fixtures. Once I did get around to putting them up, I managed to put two out of the three on the wall. The main towel rack, however, was missing one of the set screws, so I’ll have to see if the store will believe me and exchange it. I’m just worried they’ll think I lost it and won’t do anything for me, but I’ll have to see. Anyway, the project took way longer than I had anticipated, and it kind of irritated me.

Far Too Much Roger Clemens

February 13th, 2008

roger.jpgIf at any point today you had the television turned to a news station, you probably were bombarded by the Congressional hearing that was going on today about steroids in baseball. This whole “drama” starred Roger Clemens who the media was infatuated with. I was actually surprised at how big Roger’s butt is being able to fit all of the reporters inside.

While I was at lunch, CNN Headline News had constant coverage of the hearings. The occasional commercial was the only interruption. It strikes me as a little odd though, that the “Headline News” channel was only talking about one supposed headline. The other observation I made was the “Breaking News” description that they had on the lower portion of the screen. They actually bothered to say that the hearing being on a 15 minute break was “breaking news”. Astonishing.

I wasn’t able to catch all too much of what was being said since I was at work (and partly because I didn’t care), but there is some apparent controversy over conflicting testimonyby Clemens himself, a trainer, and Pettitte. If you want to learn more, I’m sure you can find all you want on this day-time soap station. Maybe Britney Spears will do something crazy, like leave the house, so that the media has something meaningful and exciting to cover.

Voting For The Lesser Of Two Evils

February 7th, 2008

vote.jpgMuch of the recent talk on the news has been about the political primaries and the results of so-called Super Tuesday. This was the day when many states held their primaries and it therefore carried a lot of weight. So, enough background on the day, I’m sure you’re all dying to hear what I have to say about it.

In The Blue Corner

On the Democratic side, there wasn’t a clear winner or front-runner if you will. Hillary Clinton came out with a slight edge, but Obama is still well within striking distance. And neither one has enough delegates yet to win the Party’s nomination. This race is going to take more time before we see a clear favorite, if we ever do.

In The Red Corner

The Republican race is shaping up much differently. After the results from Tuesday, John McCain looks to have quite the commanding lead as far as delegates are concerned. Mitt Romney is in second place and Mike Huckabee is following in third. Interestingly enough, none of the candidates look like (or say) they are going to drop out any time soon. McCain is apparently appealing to the “independents” which makes sense since he’s more or less a democrat anyway (wolf in sheep’s clothing). And Mike Huckabee looks to be playing the role of “spoiler” and siphoning off conservative votes. As you can tell, I would much prefer Mitt Romney, and that’s just the way I see it.

The Bottom Line

If the presidential race turns out to be John McCain versus Hillary Clinton, it’s going to be a vote for the lesser of two evils, and I wouldn’t be surprised if voter turn-out dwindles because of people just throwing their hands up. I respect what McCain has gone through in his life (being a POW and all), but that doesn’t mean that he’ll make a great president. He’s also old; I don’t see him having my 20-something age interests in mind at all. As for Hillary, she’s about as corrupt as it gets. Doesn’t anyone remember her involvement the in the scandals during her husbands presidency? And talk about catering to special interests… how can she accuse anyone else of this without looking in the mirror?

I’m still interested in the political process and enjoy watching the debates and such. I just prefer to have at least one candidate who I could vaguely see as president. Obviously we’ll have to watch and see how this all plays out, but it’s not looking good America.
