Voting For The Lesser Of Two Evils

February 7th, 2008 by themilkcrate

vote.jpgMuch of the recent talk on the news has been about the political primaries and the results of so-called Super Tuesday. This was the day when many states held their primaries and it therefore carried a lot of weight. So, enough background on the day, I’m sure you’re all dying to hear what I have to say about it.

In The Blue Corner

On the Democratic side, there wasn’t a clear winner or front-runner if you will. Hillary Clinton came out with a slight edge, but Obama is still well within striking distance. And neither one has enough delegates yet to win the Party’s nomination. This race is going to take more time before we see a clear favorite, if we ever do.

In The Red Corner

The Republican race is shaping up much differently. After the results from Tuesday, John McCain looks to have quite the commanding lead as far as delegates are concerned. Mitt Romney is in second place and Mike Huckabee is following in third. Interestingly enough, none of the candidates look like (or say) they are going to drop out any time soon. McCain is apparently appealing to the “independents” which makes sense since he’s more or less a democrat anyway (wolf in sheep’s clothing). And Mike Huckabee looks to be playing the role of “spoiler” and siphoning off conservative votes. As you can tell, I would much prefer Mitt Romney, and that’s just the way I see it.

The Bottom Line

If the presidential race turns out to be John McCain versus Hillary Clinton, it’s going to be a vote for the lesser of two evils, and I wouldn’t be surprised if voter turn-out dwindles because of people just throwing their hands up. I respect what McCain has gone through in his life (being a POW and all), but that doesn’t mean that he’ll make a great president. He’s also old; I don’t see him having my 20-something age interests in mind at all. As for Hillary, she’s about as corrupt as it gets. Doesn’t anyone remember her involvement the in the scandals during her husbands presidency? And talk about catering to special interests… how can she accuse anyone else of this without looking in the mirror?

I’m still interested in the political process and enjoy watching the debates and such. I just prefer to have at least one candidate who I could vaguely see as president. Obviously we’ll have to watch and see how this all plays out, but it’s not looking good America.

i agree with what you said about huckabee, he knows he has no chance to win the nomination, but his disdain for mitt is well-documented. true conservatives will vote for mitt but most republicans appear to be sliding to the left and thus endorse mccain. now my question is who will mccain select as a running mate?

I think Huckabee will go after the vice president position, even though I can’t stand his underbite.

after seeing all those wiki pages for the candidates, i was expecting to see a link to a giant douche wiki for mike huckabee, seeing how i know how you feel about him. and i can’t believe you put the house of pain version of ‘jump around’ rather than the limp bizkit one. for shame.

Looking back, I definitely should have put up a different link for the Huckster.

And while the Bizkit version is better, it wasn’t exactly what I was going for.

mccain will certainly pick huckabee to be v.p. now that huck has taken up residence inside of his butt
